Land Sales and Donations
Most of the properties that we obtain through donation or purchase are eventually transferred to the Eno River State Park. Due to the high development pressure in Durham and Orange Counties, one must act quickly in order to protect land before it can be purchased for development. Unfortunately, the State Park cannot always act quickly enough to purchase potential park lands before they can be developed. The Association works to prevent this by acquiring key properties and holding them until the State Park is able to purchase the land from us. This relationship has been instrumental in helping the park grow from a few hundred acres to over 4000 acres and nearly 8 miles of river frontage today. For more information, on these or other land protection ideas, please contact the Eno River Association’s Land Protection Specialist, Klugh Jordan, at (919) 620-9099, or emaill Klugh@enoriver.org.
