The Long Range
Transportation Plan (LRTP) contains all of the roads planned through 2025,
so it’s also known as the 2025 Plan. It is developed by the
Transportation Advisory Committee and is
revised every three to five years and is reviewed by the federal government
to ensure that planned roads will provide at least a minimum level of air
quality.
Draft Long Range Transportation Plan approved September 18
The fight against Eno Drive took a major step forward on September 18, when
the Ttransportation Advisory Committee approved a drafat LRTP with no
portion of Eno Drive included.
The
proposed Long Range Transportation Plan is available for review on the web
(see below) and at several locations in the planning area. Included are

Durham City-County Planning Department

Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Hillsborough, Chatham County,
and Orange County Planning Departments

Orange County and Chapel Hill Public Libraries in
Durham County, Orange County and Chapel Hill
The process for
arriving at the final plan includes

COMPLETED
A public comment
period that commenced September 18, 2002 and ends October 9.

COMPLETED
A public hearing
on October 17.

COMPLETED
A meeting of the
TAC on November 6, 2002 to review the LRTP, taking into consideration
comments by citizens and all of the affected agencies, as well as fiscal
constraints, and to modify the
draft plan.

Another period for
public comment, this time 42 days long..

Dec. 4: 7:00 pm public hearing on LRTP including Eno Drive
-
Dec. 18:
9:00 am meeting of the TAC to approve a final Long Range Transportation Plan.

Meetings of the
affected City Councils and County Commissions to approve the final LRTP.
-
Approval by the State Board of
Transportation.
-
Approval by the federal government for
air quality compliance.
-
Review by the local TAC and another
public comment period, next spring.

Final approval.
