THE MARGARET C. NYGARD LAND ACQUISITION FUND Margaret C. Nygard was a visionary. She recognized in the 1960's that, instead of damming the Eno River for water and recreational purposes, the picturesque, historic, riparian area should be preserved in its natural state for posterity. On the day of her death in 1995, as the flowers began to pour in and overtake her home, her family recognized the need to create a fund for people not only to express their grief, to help further Margaret's work. Donations to the Margaret C. Nygard Land Acquisition Fund are solely for parkland acquisition in the Eno River Valley.
Since 1980, the Eno River Association has prestented the Festival for the Eno each Independance Day weekend to celebrate the nature, culture and history of the Eno River Basin, to educate and advocate about the importance of clean drinbking water, and to raise funds for land preservation. The Festival for the Eno is now the largestFestival devoted to environmental education anywhere! Contributions help ensure the sucess of the Festival, regardless of what the weather may bring.
