The above grants are conjectural for having the Fish Dam Road within their boundaries. See Markham’s landgrant map for Wake county and the D. G. McDuffie survey of Paul Carrington Cameron’s land, 1890 – 91. The latter survey is found to be in error through the Bennehan / Cameron land transaction research conducted by Jean Bradley Anderson. There are two McDuffie memoranda books with details for the map in the Cameron papers, as well as this item in an undated diary, probably Duncan Cameron’s,
Subseries 6.11.3. Undated Diary Undated. 1 item. 177. n.d. Probably Duncan Cameron. Calendar for the months of June, July, and August showing days for public events--e.g., "cockfight at Hillsboro," "tax-gathering at Fish Dam ford," "Supreme Co. at Raleigh," and "muster at Huckabees in Wake." 5 pages. which implies a larger purpose for the Fish Dam store.
Jean Anderson’s Piedmont Plantation gives two tracts (possibly the same, described twice in
different deed books) from Duncan Cameron to Fielding Leathers, OCDB 26:229 and
OCDB 35:111 for 69 1/7 acres on the south side of Eno River on Fish Dam Road, adjacent
John Tilley.
