Exploring the
LITTLE RIVER BASIN |
Learn about the historical, cultural, and environmental features of the Little
River Basin in Durham and Orange counties. Join the Eno River Association for
a driving tour of the Little River Basin in Durham
and Orange counties. Not only is the basin an important source of water for
Durham and Raleigh, but it is also a rich source of history and culture. The
Eno River Association has sponsored several activities to focus attention on
the Little River Basin. It is our hope that greater appreciation of the value
of the basin will generate greater public support for its protection.
Self-Driving Tour (Little River Basin)
Take a self-driving tour of important historical sites within the Little River
Basin. The tour is a "windshield" tour of selected sites stretching
from Historic Stagville to the Little River Presbyterian Church in the Caldwell
Community. Print out the brochure with map and attractions along the way, and
the next nice day start your tour at Stagville Plantation. Follow the tour route
at your own pace as it weaves through the Little River Basin passing: Orange
Factory, several historical homes including the Lipscomb house, the site of Johnson's
mill, the home of Rev. John A. McMannen, South Lowell, and the Little River Presbyterian
Church Cemetery. attractions | printable guide as PDF (429KB )
