Durham Parks and Recreation, Eno River Association and Durham Parks Foundation partner for 2027 Earth Day Festival for the Eno

October 13, 2026 by Eno River Association

Learn all about Durham’s great natural resources at this two-day event!

Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR), Eno River Association and Durham Parks Foundation are partnering to bring together two long-time community festivals where we will celebrate nature, learn ways to help keep our planet and our city healthy and vibrant, and have fun while doing it.

This partnership was established to combine two popular annual community events, the DPR Earth Day Festival, which for decades has been providing residents with fun, educational information about planet Earth and our place here in Durham, and the Eno River Association’s Festival for the Eno, a beloved community event that has highlighted the importance of conserving and protecting the natural, historical, and cultural resources of one of Durham’s most treasured outdoor spaces, the Eno River Basin.

“We are looking forward to working in partnership with the Eno River Association and Durham Parks Foundation on this exciting event,” said Kirk Archer, DPR’s Special Events Manager. “By bringing these two events together and forming this larger, two-day Earth Day event, we have the opportunity to reach even more residents and expand the public’s awareness of not only the importance of Earth Day and protecting our planet, but also inform them of the beautiful natural areas we have right here in Durham, like the Eno River Basin, and educate more people on how we can all work together to enjoy and protect this vibrant and important piece of Durham.”

“I’d like to thank Wade Walcutt, Emilie McIntosh, and Kirk Archer at DPR, as well as Donna Stanek at the Durham Parks Foundation, for helping us make this idea a reality over the last eight months,” said Executive Director of the Eno River Association, Ryan Fehrman. “We are excited to expand our traditional partnership with DPR and to use this new iteration of the Festival as a larger platform to educate the community about the wonders of the Eno River Basin. My hope is that this partnership helps ensure the continuation of the Festival for another 46 years or more.”

The new Earth Day Festival for the Eno will take place over a two-day span in April 2027, hosted at Rock Quarry Park where visitors will be treated to live entertainment, environmental educational opportunities, information from local community organizations, and much more!

Please check back with DPR or the Eno River Association in the near future for more details on this amazing event!
