Summer is here, and that means, the Festival for the Eno is just around the corner! We hope to see you on July 1st and 4th! This year’s incredible lineup features Tift Merritt, Bombadil, the African American Dance Ensemble, the Gospel Jubilators, Joseph Terrell, Mike Compton & Joe Newberry, Dawn Landes, Spiritual Voices, Hammer No More the Fingers, a Rowdy Square Dance, the Mellow Swells, Tan & Sober Gentlemen, and many more.
Plus, all your favorite parts of EnoFest are back! A juried selection of regional craft artists, food trucks, beer garden, Eno Environmental Education for Kids, and dozens of nonprofits, community groups, and businesses coming together to uplift the Eno and our greater community.
As our biggest community event, EnoFest is key to building awareness for the Eno River Association’s mission to protect land, maintain viable greenspaces and waterways, and educate the public about environmental stewardship.
This year, we have even more activities that make EnoFest a unique community-driven event, full of arts, music, and environmental education for everyone:
A Plastic-Bottle-Free Festival Grounds
You may know about our Trash-Free efforts which provide composting, recycling, and reduce single-use containers. This year we’re going even further! The City of Durham’s Water2Go truck will provide free drinking water, and we’ll encourage folks to bring their reusable bottles or purchase a commemorative Eno bottle. We’ll also serve canned water in our drink booths, thanks to the generosity of Liquid Death and their commitment to eliminating single-use plastics.
Come One, Come All
EnoFest is a community event, and ticket sales only cover a fraction of what it takes to bring you four stages of music, a juried craft fair, food, and fun. This year, our friends from Duke Energy are helping us partner with community and neighborhood organizations to reduce obstacles to attendance like ticket fees, transportation, and language barriers.
Investing in Our Strategic Vision
In addition to awareness, engagement, and education, EnoFest also generates around 30% of the Eno River Association’s annual income. Funds raised during the Festival are critical to achieving our mission to protect land, open it to the public, and provide education programs to thousands – all year long. For example, this month we will close on a new 71-acre conservation easement, which is a critical gap in protecting Teer Quarry. Located on the southern side of the Eno River, approximately five miles west of Falls Lake, Teer Quarry is a water source for the City of Durham.
