Due to the impacts of Tropical Depression Chantal, several parks, preserves, and trails along the Eno River have been closed as staff work to assess and remediate the damage.

Conservation Corps of North Carolina will be working on debris dispersal and a repair to a small section of the Quarry trail throughout October.

Pleasant Green access: Mountains-To-Sea Trail /Laurel Bluffs Trail from Pleasant Green access to the Cole Mill Road bridge

There is NO CROSSING under the Cole Mill Road bridge as it was washed out by floodwaters. ERSP is working with NC DOT to develop next steps. Please do not attempt to cross under the bridge.

These areas will remain closed until the suspension bridge is repaired and staff can take vehicles across the Ford. Cox Mountain group camp and Fannys Ford campsites closed.

West Point on the Eno City Park*

Driveway Access: The driveway to the upper parking lot and McCown-Mangum House staff parking will be open.

Shelter Rentals: Both shelters are available for rental through October 31. Renters should park in the upper lot and carry in event supplies.

Restrooms: Restrooms remain closed for repairs; however, porta-johns are available along the sidewalk between the parking lot and the McCown-Mangum House.

River Access: Riverbank access is temporarily restricted while new grass seed is being established.

The MST between Cole Mill Rd. and Guess Rd. within Eno River State Park is closed due to damage from Tropical Storm Chantal. Until the trail reopens, use the detour described at mountainstoseatrail.org/eno-river-state-park-detour. Within the general closure area, a short stretch on the State Park’s Pump Station Trail corresponding to EB Miles 5.4-6.1; WB Miles 72.5-73.1 (FarOut EB Miles 574.4-575.0; WB Miles 597.5-598.1) is open and can be hiked only as a loop from the Rivermont Rd. trailheads.
