The Eno River Association offers hikes each Sunday from January through mid-May and a special hike in June for National Trails Day.
The Eno River Association hosts its own series of Hikes and Outings to bring all the citizens of the Eno to the river to enjoy, explore, and learn more about the places we love. Most hikes and outings take place on Sunday afternoons from 2-4:30 and more details can be found by checking the calendar at enoriver.org for the most up to date information.
Spring Hike Series
The Eno River Association invites you to enjoy the Eno this spring with our Spring Hike Series, a tradition since 1969. Our spring hikes will showcase the wildflowers that bloom along the Eno, and some will visit a historical site or follow a scenic path along the river. The Eno River is home to a large variety of blooming flowers, including hepatica and trout lily in March, Dutchman’s breeches and yellow lady slipper in April, and rhododendron and mountain laurel in May.
Hikes start at 2:00 pm and last 2 – 2 1/2 hours unless otherwise listed. Arrive 10 minutes early to find your hike leader and sign your hike waiver (if you did not sign the online version prior to the hike). Hike leaders will display a white or red Eno River bandana.
Hikes are geared towards adults, but children are welcome with an accompanying adult. Well-behaved dogs are permitted but they must be kept on leash at all times.
COVID-19 policies: Masks are not required at this time as long as participants maintain a distance of 6 feet from others outside of the group they arrived with.
- Hikes are free but registration is required.
- Hike schedule is subject to change. Check back here before each hike to confirm hike details and meeting locations.
- Updates and weather cancellations for the next hike will be posted at the top of this page. You can also email hikes@enoriver.org and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
Some access areas for these hikes have limited parking. Carpooling is encouraged whenever possible.
In the event of cancellations or weather emergencies, please check the top of this page, our social media or email hikes@enoriver.org.
