We’re Hiring a Communications Intern!

Job Title: Communications Intern

Organization: Eno River Association

Hours: 10 – 15 hours per week

Compensation: $2,500 stipend per semester

Duration: Fall Semester (with potential for extension)

About Us:

The Eno River Association is dedicated to preserving and protecting the nature, culture, and history of the Eno River basin. We engage the community through environmental education, stewardship, and advocacy to ensure a healthy and vibrant river for future generations.

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and creative Communications Intern to join our team. This role is ideal for someone passionate about environmental conservation and looking to gain hands-on experience in the communications field. The intern will support our communications efforts by assisting with email marketing, website updates, social media content creation, and various other communications projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Email Marketing: Assist in creating and distributing email blasts to engage our community and promote upcoming events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Website Management: Update and maintain the Eno River Association’s website, ensuring content is current, accurate, and visually appealing.
  • Social Media: Write and schedule posts for our social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), and capture engaging photos to accompany posts.
  • Content Creation: Develop written content for newsletters, blog posts, press releases, and other communications materials.
  • Photography: Take high-quality photos at events and in the field to support our visual storytelling efforts.
  • Communications Projects: Assist with various communications and marketing projects as needed, including graphic design, video editing, developing media outreach strategies, and managing a small team of volunteers.

Qualifications:

  • A degree (or currently pursuing one) in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, Environmental Studies, Conservation, or a related field.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in social media platforms and tools (e.g., Meta Business Suite).
  • Basic knowledge of website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Photography skills and experience with photo editing software are a plus.
  • Passion for environmental conservation and community engagement.
