Dear Friends of the Eno,
Of all of the many meetings, events, and conversations that I’ve had in my first three months at ERA, I think my favorite activity has been getting to know the staff. I was impressed with them during the interview process, but to see them in action, to have the chance to learn from them, to get to know them better as people, has been a true gift. While I plan to share more about this group in future messages, I’d like to start with a story about our Land Stewardship Manager, Indigo Roper-Edwards.
I learned about our Piedmont prairie restoration project at the Confluence within my first week or two on the job. I had heard vague rumors of a tractor being needed to facilitate the process and to implement our management plan for the preserve. I innocently reached out to Indigo to learn more. What followed was the longest, most detailed and thorough tractor email in the history of tractor emails. Curb weights were mentioned. Transportation was considered. I’m fairly certain that the term “cc” was used. (I have no idea what this means.) Indigo had swept me away in a tsunami of tractor talk!
Long story short, tractors aren’t cheap and God help us if we’re getting one from China. There is genuine excitement in the office and among our Land & Stewardship Committee for the prairie restoration project but we need your help. A generous donor has offered a matching gift of $20k for the tractor but we need supporters like you to hit our $20k goal and put us over the top. Please don’t let Indigo down! You can donate now by following this link. We’ll keep you updated on the status of this exciting project as we move forward. Thank you for supporting ERA, Indigo, and our amazing team. We appreciate you.
Sincerely,

Ryan J. Fehrman
